Oliver Frankel
Managing Director, Goldman Sachs & Co.
Mr. Frankel is a Managing Director of Goldman Sachs in the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Division. He works on developing new businesses and products in the Commodities area. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1993 and became Managing Director in 1997. Prior to working at Goldman Sachs, Mr. Frankel was a Vice President at Credit Lyonnais where he managed North American Interest Rate Options, and was a Vice President in Interest Rate Option Trading, for Banque Indosuez.
A native of London, Mr. Frankel graduated in Mathematics from Cambridge University and then proceeded to postgraduate degrees from London University and from UCLA. He serves as Treasurer of the board for the New York chapter of the Mankind Project. He lives in New York City with his two sons, Miles and Charles aged 12 and 9 respectively.
David Gilberg
Partner, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP
David Gilberg is a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell. His practice involves a broad range of securities and derivatives-related regulatory and transactional matters. He joined Sullivan & Cromwell in 1992 and has been a partner since 1996. Mr. Gilberg was a partner at Rogers & Wells. He has authored several articles on derivatives and has spoken at numerous derivatives industry conferences.
Mr. Gilberg graduated from University of Pennsylvania, where he received both a B.A. and an M.A. in 1978. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1981. He has taught law as an Adjunct Professor at Georegeown Univeristy Law Center and served on the board of the Westchester Chapter of the American Jewish Committee. He serves as Vice President and Executive Committee Member of Temple Israel Center of White Plains and is a member of the Rabbinical School Board of Overseers for the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Mr. Gilberg and his wife Judy reside in Westchester with their two children.
Alvin Loshak
Director, Credit Suisse
Alvin is a Director at Credit Suisse and Head of US Exotic Interest Rate Derivatives. He worked for a boutique investment bank while at Babson College, and subsequently moved back to NY to work for Barclays as an analyst in their Fixed Income Derivatives division. He eventually moved to Credit Suisse First Boston, and has held several positions there, both in New York and London. After having spent four and a half years in London, he has recently returned to New York. Alvin entered to Simon's Rock in Fall of '92 as part of the Acceleration to Excellence Program. He finished his A.A. in '94 and went on to get Bachelor's degrees in Economics and Finance from Babson College. Alvin is actively involved with a number of non-profits and sits on the board of Emerging Artists International.
Joseph Luft
Principal, Flushing International High School
Joseph Luft is the founding principal of the Flushing International High School, which opened in September 2004. He has had the benefit of working in three different International High Schools: Brooklyn IHS, IHS at LaGuardia Community College, and Flushing IHS. For six years, Joseph worked as an ESL/humanities teacher and took on various leadership roles at Brooklyn IHS. Through his experience at Brooklyn IHS, Joseph developed his interest in starting a new school based on the International Approach. Joe began his teaching career in the Washington, DC public schools. Prior to teaching, Joseph worked as the executive assistant in the Aspira Association, Inc. National Office in Washington, DC where his interest in working with young people in general and public education in particular intensified. At Aspira, Joe worked closely with the Board of Directors and local affiliates. Joseph is a graduate of the New Leaders for New Schools urban principal preparation program and completed his principal residency at IHS at LaGCC in 2004. Joseph has a BA in History and Hispanic Studies from Connecticut College and an MA in ESL/Secondary Education from the George Washington University.
Michael A. Pollack

Michael is a General Partner of Glenhill Capital. Glenhill is a global, multi-sector equities investment firm. Prior to co-founding Glenhill in 2001, Mr. Pollack served as an Associate at Reservoir Capital Group and as an Analyst at Colony Capital, both private equity firms. Mr. Pollack graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He currently lives in Manhattan with his wife and son.
Lydia Randolph
VP of Resource Development, Northest Region, Boys & Girls Club of America
Lydia will be joining The Boys & Girls Clubs of America in November 2006 as Vice President of Resource Development for the Northeast Region.
Until the same month, Lydia served as Vice President for Greyston Foundation, located in Yonkers, NY. She was responsible for raising private support for the Foundation and its comprehensive community development programs. Prior to joining Greyston, Lydia served as the Deputy Director of Development for The Doe Fund and Annual Fund Manager at Phoenix House Foundation, both based in New York City. Lydia received her BA in International Relations from Lehigh University and her MPA in Non-Profit Management from New York University's Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.
Claire E. Sylvan, Ed.D.
Founding Executive Director, Internationals Network for Public Schools
Dr. Sylvan leads Internationals' development of the organization's strategy, core values, partnerships, leadership training and fundraising efforts. Prior to founding Internationals, Dr. Sylvan raised funds for and developed various innovative programs for diverse populations of new learners of English in the New York City public schools. In 1991, she joined The International High School at LaGuardia where she facilitated the International Schools Partnership, the early network of International High Schools. Dr. Sylvan has taught undergraduate and graduate courses for educators at City University of New York and published various articles on language development programs.
Dr. Sylvan graduated from Brooklyn College and Teachers College at Columbia University and is a trained school district administrator. She is fluent and literate in Spanish. She and her husband, Roberto, live in New York City with their two children.
Norma Vega
ES Special Services Manager, Dept. Of Education
Ms. Vega is one of the founding members and former principals of Bronx International High School, which opened in September 2001. She joined the school as a social worker and held that position for three years prior to becoming principal in September 2004. Before arriving at Bronx IHS, Ms. Vega was a social worker at Brooklyn IHS and Legacy High School. Ms. Vega is now an ES Special Services Manager with the DOE.
Ms. Vega earned her undergraduate degree from Fordham University, received her MA in Social Work from Columbia University and a MA in Educational Administration from Bank Street College's Principals Institute.
Aida Walqui
Director, Teacher Professional Development Program
AĆda Walqui joined WestEd in 1999 to initiate the Teacher Professional Development Program. As Director of Teacher Professional Development at WestEd, she is responsible for collaborating with ongoing WestEd teacher professional development efforts and leading the evolution of an organizational commitment to supporting teachers throughout their careers from recruitment and preservice through induction and life-long learning. Previously, Walqui taught in the Division of Education at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and the School of Education at Stanford University, where she coordinated the Cross-Cultural, Linguistic, and Academic Development emphasis in the STEP program. She has also taught in other universities in Peru, Mexico, England, and the United States. She has authored two books for the study of Spanish for Spanish speakers in American schools; a book for teachers of Spanish as a second language in Andean countries; a book on the teaching of indigenous languages in intercultural, bilingual programs; an ethnographic study of immigrant students in secondary schools in the United States; and a number of articles in journals and edited volumes. A member of several national and international teacher professional development advisory boards, Walqui is frequently invited to speak on teacher growth in school contexts characterized by cultural and linguistic diversity.
A native of Peru, Walqui received her Licenciatura in Literature from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Peru. She holds an MA in sociolinguistics from Georgetown University; and a PhD in language, literacy, and culture from Stanford University.
